Photosharing and such

I had used Flickr before but this is my first time using it in sometime. I enjoy the simplicity of the uploading of imagery. However, I will be honest that I didn't know about the additional features that this site had to offer. The World Map is a pretty cool feature that I would recommend to patrons. I enjoyed the navigating of this site and hope to revisit it in the future for both professional and personal means.

23 Things 5 - 7

Well Twitter was something I joined a few weeks ago just to see what it was like...I will be honest I haven't done much with it since then other than a few people I decided to follow (mainly celebrities). I like it but I am not as active on it as I am on Facebook. As for Twitter's search feature, I do see a benefit of showing patrons that feature as a way to look for stories (especially if it is a prominent story, etc.) and having the link in the twitter feed is a very useful part of that feature.

As for Facebook, I love it...a great way to reconnect with old friends, keep up to date with current friends, etc and if I had to have a complaint, its the overabundance of games, ads and such on there which I understand are the lifeblood of the site. Otherwise, I love social networking and see more good than bad to come from it. I think that our patrons may have questions about certain features and such of Facebook (like uploading a picture, etc.) and that it would be beneficial to have maybe a FAQ created so that it can address such concerns.

I think personally and for patrons that Google Docs would be the most beneficial of the Google applications. Its a great way to edit, to have access to a program that does a lot of what word does, etc. Further, its another sure way to make sure your work is saved and not lost. Since having a gmail account is necessary, then I can think of no safer way to guarantee your work will be saved. Ultimately, I would recommend to patrons the usage of Google Docs and hope they can walk away feeling the same usefulness. Of course, since we have a class about it as well, I feel that we are showcasing how important it is.
